Good Friday is a day of hope. It is a day where we look forward to a brighter tomorrow. Many things have happened to change the course of our lives, but it has not shaken our faith.

The message of Good Friday is that the dictum of an eye for an eye cannot work. The way to conquer evil is through good. Similarly, violence can be overcome only by non-violence and hatred by love.

Good Friday Songs 2019  MP3

Here are the Latest and New songs for Good Friday 2019 on 30 march.

Hallelujah, Jesus is Lord

Hallelujah, Jesus is Lord
Hallelujah, death is no more
Hallelujah, hope is restored
Hallelujah, Jesus is Lord

He was dead in the grave
And all hope had vanished away
He arose; He’s alive
And I’m ready to shout it on high.

Refrain

I was dead in my sins
Bound for hell and darkness within
By His love, I’m alive
Heaven’s gates are opened wide.

Refrain

We’re alive in the Son
Longing for the day He will come
In a flash, trumpet blast
Christ the Victor will raise us at last!

Refrain

Alas! Did My Saviour Bleed?
Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?
[originally, For such a worm as I?]

Refrain

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine—
And bathed in its own blood—
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature’s sin.

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
’Tis all that I can do.

Come See the Place Where Jesus Lay

Come, see the place where Jesus lay,
And hear angelic watchers say,
“He lives, Who once was slain:
Why seek the Living midst the dead?
That He would rise again.”

O joyful sound! O glorious hour,
When by His own almighty power
He rose and left the grave!
Now let our songs His triumph tell,
Who burst the bands of death and hell,
And ever lives to save.

The first begotten of the dead,
For us He rose, our glorious Head,
Immortal life to bring;
What though the saints like Him shall die,
They share their Leader’s victory,
And triumph with their King.

No more they tremble at the grave,
For Jesus will their spirits save,
And raise their slumbering dust
O risen Lord, in Thee we live,
To Thee our ransomed souls we give,
To Thee our bodies trust.

He Did Not Die in Vain

My blessèd Lord was crucified,
The day was dark, and grief was wide,
For hope was crushed and all seemed vain,
Until that Savior rose again.

Refrain

Ring out the blessèd news again!
Oh! bear aloft the strain;
The mighty Lord is ris’n in power,
He died, but not in vain!

He brings His great salvation nigh,
And on His love bids us rely;
He bought our peace through grief and pain;
But oh! He did not die in vain!

Refrain

O, wondrous news of life and love!
That Jesus lives and reigns above!
He made the path to glory plain;
Ah, no! He did not die in vain.

Bible Verses for Good Friday

  • It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
  • The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.”
  • When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.
  • But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

  • At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.
  • And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”—which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”[c]
  • When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.”
  • One man ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said.
  • With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
  • The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
  • And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and[d] saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son[e] of God!”
  • Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.
  • In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
  • who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise.”
  • For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth
  • You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
  • Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
  • But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  • Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
  • For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
  •  For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
  •  “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him
  • Because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.”
  • He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
  •  Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
  • But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
  • We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
  • He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
  • By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.
  • He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth
  • Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
  • When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.
  • Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?”
  • But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
  • Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd.
  • At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus Barabbas. 17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”
  •  For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.
  • While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
  • But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
  •  “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered.
  • “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!”
  • “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
  •  When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”
  • All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!
  •  Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.
  •  Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,
  • and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.
  • They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.
  • After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.
  • As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.
  •  They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”).
  • There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it.
  • When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
  • And sitting down, they kept watch over him there.
  •  Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
  •  Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.
  • Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!” 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
  • He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”
  • In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
  • From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land.
  • About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,lemasabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
  • When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.” 48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink.
  • The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”
  •  And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split
  •  and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
  • They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
  • When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” 55 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.
  •  Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
  • As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus.
  • Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.
  •  Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
  • and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.
  • Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
  • The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate.
  • “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
  • So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
  •  “Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.”
  • 1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
  • Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
  •  “Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip.
  •  Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come
  •  Herds of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah. And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the LORD.
  •  All Kedar’s flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on my altar, and I will adorn my glorious temple.
  • “Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests?
  • Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your children from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.
  • “Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion.
  • Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations— their kings led in triumphal procession.
  • For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined.
  •  “The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the juniper, the fir and the cypress together, to adorn my sanctuary; and I will glorify the place for my feet.
  • The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
  • “Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.
  • You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
  • Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well-being your ruler.
  •  No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.
  • The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
  • Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.
  • Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor.
  • The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.”
  • Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.
  • The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe
  • And went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.
  • Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”
  •  When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”
  •  As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!” But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”
  • The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”
  • When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,
  • and he went back inside the palace. “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.
  • "Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”
  • Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
  • From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”
  • When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha).
  • It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. “Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.
  • But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.
  • Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).
  •  There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
  • Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
  • Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.
  • The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”
  •  Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
  • When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.
  • “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, “They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.”So this is what the soldiers did.
  • Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
  • When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,”
  •  and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
  •  Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”
  •  A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.
  • When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
  •  Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
  • The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.
  •  But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
  • Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
  • The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.
  • These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”
  • and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”
  • Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.
  • He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.
  • Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.
  • At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.
  • Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.
